Pumba is situated between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. It is a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth. The Pumba Private Game Reserve sits on a game reserve and offers stunning views from every location on the resort. The preserve houses Africa’s Big 5, which include the lion, leopard, elephant , rhino and buffalo. Other animals onsite include over 270 species of birds, leopards, antelope and other game animals. Shopping and dining establishments are an hour drive away to Port Elizabeth or thirty minutes away to the next smaller city. The airport is an hour and a half drive by car away from the Pumba Private Game Reserve. Taxi and shuttle service can be arranged by the hotel staff upon request.

The Pumba Private Game Reserve offers two lodges, the Pumba Water Lodge and the Msenge Bush Lodge. The Pumba Water Lodge comprises 12 stone-walled, thatched, waterfront cottages. Leading off meandering timber footpaths, the cottages open up onto private timber game-viewing decks with outside showers and plunge pools. Msenge Bush Lodge at Pumba offers 11 luxurious, glass enclosed thatched chalets, each in its own private bush setting.
